clinique flatlay

A friend introduced me to Clinique many years ago. I’d seen the counter in the department store of course, but I was 17 and not really interested in skincare at the time. I was far too interested in everything that Rimmel had to offer and apart from using baby lotion on a cotton pad to take off my eye makeup and a quick wash with soap ( I know, soap!) skincare wasn’t really on my radar.

Fast forward many years later I am now a regular user of all things Clinique. As I’ve become older my skin has definitely got drier (I blame air conditioners!) and I’ve found that the skin that I used to take for granted, now needs me to take care of it.

I’ve tried different products over the years but these 5 are now a regular part of my skincare routine.

    1. Take the day off cleansing balm

This is a new addition to my skincare routine and something that I don’t use every day. For me, this is great for taking off a full face of make up as it literally dissolves your make up and leaves your skin feeling clean and soft so I usually use it after a night out.

The product is a white cleansing balm that turns into an oil as you rub it in to loosen the make up.  I then use a wet cotton pad to remove the balm and of course the make up, leaving your face clean and soft.

It manages to dissolve the most hardwearing, long-lasting make up without any problem while keeping your skin soft.

After using the balm I then wash my face as usual.

    2. Take the day off makeup remover – for lids, lashes and lips

Where the above product is a balm, this one is a liquid. You pour a little on to a cotton pad and wipe away the makeup. Its non perfumed and gentle on the skin.

I use this everyday, mainly to take off my eye makeup as it does a great job of removing even waterproof mascara.

    3. Rinse-off foaming cleanser

If I had to pick a favourite out of these 5 products it would be this one.

The instructions say: For normal skin. Lather small amount on wet palms. Massage on to wet face. Rinse thoroughly.

I’ve been using this cleanser for years. I sometimes have a momentary lapse of sanity and try other face washes, but always return to this one. It foams really well and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft.

If you wanted to try a Clinique product for the first time, this would be my recommendation. It’s now one of my ‘can’t live without’ products.

    4. 7 day scrub cream

If my skin is feeling particularly dry I turn to this product. Its a cream face wash that contains tiny grains to exfoliate your skin. I use this after I’ve removed my makeup. Again, it isn’t something I use every day, just when I feel that my skin needs it, but I do notice a difference afterwards. My skin feels smoother and cleaner.

I follow this with the Rinse-off foaming cleanser above.

    5. Moisture surge

This is one of the more recent additions to my skin care routine, but has become a firm favourite.

Its a really light cream that dissolves quickly into the skin. A little goes a long way, so you don’t need to use much.

My skin seems to absorb this, and feels instantly plumper. I sometimes use this on its own, as its a good base for makeup, or before my night time moisturiser, as an extra layer in winter, when my skin is at its driest.

If you’ve never tried Clinique before I’d recommend that you wait for one of their Bonus Time days. That’s where you buy 2 products and receive lots of free gifts too.  The offers are usually well promoted and take place in Boots, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and House of Fraser.

Let me know if any of my favourites are part of your skincare routine and I’d love to hear recommendations of your favourite products too!
